For our out-of-town trips we meet at the car park for Church on Ingestre, which is on the Cnr Ingestre & Campbell Streets. Let us know if you need a ride to the car park. We can also pick up en route. The toilet at COI may not always be available.

πŸš— Transport for Out-Of-Town Trips

We use our private vehicles for transport. A cost is charged to cover trip costs. The event organisers select the Vehicles and drivers before the event. If you would like to take your vehicle, please email ASAP so the organiser knows your vehicle is available. We prefer drivers for our events to have attended a few events before driving and to have held a full NZ driver's license for 2 years.

πŸ₯Ύ Walk / Tramp Type Classifications

  • πŸ™οΈ Local Walks (Whanganui City Limits) These casual walks take place within the Whanganui City limits during afternoons and evenings, ranging from 30 minutes to 3 hours long. Most routes offer multiple distance options. Please note: if a heading only specifies a shorter option, it means the main group is completing a longer loop or out-and-back trail; if you choose the shorter version, you will need to walk back self-guided. No registration is requiredβ€”simply turn up at the designated location and time!

  • πŸš— Semi-Local Walk / Hike These walks are located outside of Whanganui's City limits, but not more than a half hour's drive away. These walks range from 30 minutes to half a day long. Walk is used if the terrain is easy and it's shorter than four hours. These walks will have organised transport, but you can still meet at the location.

  • πŸ—ΊοΈ Out-of-Town Trips (Walk or Hike) The location of these trips is stated after the name of the event, followed by the activity type (Walk or Hike). All participants must register in advance and complete a Health & Safety form. Please note that organised transport is provided for a fee to cover travel expenses. The term 'Short Hike' is used for any hike expected to take under four hours to complete.

  • 🧩 Flexi-Distance Hike These out-of-town events are made up of three or more short walks, where you can pick a distance that suits you! They are ideal for families, new trampers, or those who can't manage big days anymore, while still usually offering options to challenge the serious tramper. Please note: If you are not doing all of the walks, expect a bit of downtime, so make sure to bring something to pass the time.
